Seyed Ali Qazi Asgar meets patriarch Beshara al-Rai in Beirut

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — During the meeting, Qazi Asgar referred to the guidelines of the holy Quran about Islam's view on Christians, and said, "Based on the holy religion of Islam, strengthening peaceful coexistence is considered as a religious duty and religious extremists among both Muslims and Christians are assumed as the biggest danger to the human society."

He referred to Islam and Christianity's commonalities, including commitment to the moral values, reinvigoration of family foundation and supporting the oppressed and the poor people, and said, "It is necessary that faithful Muslim and Christian figures study ways of materializing the common goals through continued consultations."

Rai, for his part, expressed regret over the deadly attacks in the regional countries, and said, "We always try to strengthen our relations with Muslims, and we declare to the world people that Islam doesn't mean terrorism."

He underlined the religious figures' important role in thwarting the plots hatched by the enemies to misuse religion.
