SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) — Iraqi security and medical officials say gunmen have killed three people, including a local councilor, in separate shootings across the country’s northern city of Mosul.
The first attack took place when gunmen shot dead Ibrahim Younis - a municipal council member -- outside his home in southeastern Mosul, 360 kilometers (225 miles) northwest of the capital Baghdad, on Saturday morning.
Separately, gunmen opened fire on police forces, killing one officer and a passerby.
The unrest takes to 246 the number of people killed in attacks nationwide this month, according to an AFP tally based on reports from security and medical officials.
Four soldiers, including a colonel, were also wounded in a gun attack on their patrol near the town of Dhuluiyah, some 80 kilometers (49 miles) north of Baghdad, on Friday evening.
At least 12 people were killed and many others injured in separate attacks across Iraq on Friday. —www.shafaqna.com/English
