Jamat-e-Islami extremist group attacked Shia during a Dua e Kumail recitation at Punjab University

SHAFAQNA (Shia News Association) — Members of the Jamat-e-Islami political extremist group attacked and violently beat up a Shiite teacher and several Shiite students during the recitation of Dua e Kumail in Lahore’s Punjab University last night. As a result, the Shiite teacher and 3 Shiite students were injured.

Jamat-e-Islami is an extremist political party and its student wing has been involved in fights and tortures of Shiite students (whom they claim to be non-muslims) across the board in institutes in Pakistan.

Last January Jamat-e-Islami students beat up Shiite students (mostly belonging to the Imamia Students Organization) when they were setting up for Youm-e-Hussain on Campus. It is worth mentioning the event had been authorized by the Punjab University Adminstration.

All student organisations have condemned last night’s un-called for attack and sympathised with the injured. They have also asked for the Punjab University Adminstraion to take an action against those involved in the attack.  —www.shafaqna.com/english/
