SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) — A senior Iranian lawmaker has called on the six world powers known as group P5+1 to adopt a policy of interaction with the Islamic Republic to solve the dispute over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Alaeddin Boroujerdi noted on Friday that if the P5+1 – including the US, Britain, France, Germany, China, and Russia – acted independent of the US policies, nuclear talks between Iran and West will lead to agreement.
The lawmaker said substituting interaction for confrontation is the only solution to Iran’s nuclear dispute, adding that the West must recognize the Islamic Republic’s nuclear rights and refrain from following unilateral policies in negotiations with Iran.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has transparently declared its principled and logical stances in the past three rounds of nuclear negotiations with the West (in Istanbul, Baghdad and Moscow) and two expert-level talks (in Istanbul),” Boroujerdi stated.
He noted that since Iran’s nuclear activities are peaceful, based on the regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and within framework of the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Iran will never give up its legal positions and rights.
“The United States and the Zionist regime (of Israel) dread Iran’s regional might which challenges the clout and expansionist policies of Arrogant powers and, therefore, are pressing the Western states to stall negotiations between Iran and the P5+1,” Boroujerdi noted.—www.shafaqna.com/english
